on the road to recovery!

Well, I did it! I took the first step towards the road back to my recovery! I met with a psychologist today for my psych evaluation for my gastric surgery! It was quite the tedious process! First I had to fill out the necessary forms and then came a computer test...732 True/False Questions and multiple paper forms. Afterwards, I met with the psychologist and we discussed my results. In conclusion, I am eligible for the surgery. It was also noted that my levels of depression are alarmingly high and it was her recommendation that I get on anti-depressive and anti-anxiety medication, something I have known just never initiated. She felt that my depression was not just related to my weight issues, but the effects of John's accident on our family, etc. But now, the ball is rolling, I should hear back from the Dr within a week and then my surgery will be scheduled. Her other recommendation was to go with the sleeve gastrectomy vs the lap band. Something I'm excited about. While the lap band is something I am familiar with, since John had it done, it agree that based on my goals and lifestyle the "sleeve" would be most beneficial and successful for me. YAY! I have goals and a timeline in mind, so keep checking back for updates!

Before getting anti depressants (if you haven't yet), talk to my sister when we go away for the weekend. She was on anti depressants for years and when she changed to a holistic lifestyle, she started taking all natural supplements and was able to go off the prescription medication, if you are interested. Prescribed medications can have side effects...just a thought.
